Carissa Darmawan

Carissa Darmawan started learning piano at the age of four and half years old with Ms. Julia Hsiao and has found her passion in music since then. Carissa received first place and gold star winner award for Elite International Music Competition (December, 2024 & 2023).

She also received Silver medal for American Association for Development of the Gifted and Talented (AADGT) International Young Musicians Festival “Passion of Music” (February, 2023), 2nd place winner for International Romantic Music Competition with American Protégé (October, 2022), 1st place winner for Golden Era of Romantic Music International Competition in American Fine Arts Festival (November, 2021), and 2nd place winner for International Romantic Music Competition with American Protégé (October, 2021).

Carissa had participated in ADMTA (Austin District Music Teachers Association) events such as Jazz-Pop Rock Festival, Baroque-Classical and Romantic-Contemporary Festivals since 2018 and received superior plus or superior ratings. Carissa received gold medal awards every year since first grade for the TMTA (Texas Music Teacher Association) theory tests. Carissa shares her musical passion by playing piano at retirement homes monthly.

Carissa performed at the Winners Recitals at Carnegie Hall in New York City on December 11, 2022, by American Protege, April 16th, 2023 by AADGT and May 8th, 2024 by Elite International Music Competition.

Beyond her passion for piano, she enjoys playing cello together with her friends in middle school honors orchestra. Carissa loves to swim, bike and write. She swam for the City of Austin swimming team competing for state swimming competition in the 2024 TAAF Games of Texas. She also represented her school for UIL since fourth grade and received awards including first place in writing.
