David Jiao

David Jiao, age 13, is an eighth grader who currently lives in Austin, Texas. He began to study piano under Ms. Julia Hsiao in the fall of 2022 at the age of 11. From the first moment he touched the keys of the piano, he found his passion in music. Two years after he started playing, he won second place in the United Stars Competition in June 2024 and third place in the Prima Volta Music Competition in September that same year. Furthermore, he received a gold medal from the TMTA (Texas Music Teachers Association) Theory Test in 2023. In addition to his accomplishments in piano, he is the first chair bassoonist in his middle school’s Honors Band.
