Shannon Plangklang

Shannon Plangklang, a Thai-American fifth grader from Pflugerville, Texas, discovered her love for music at age five when she began learning piano. She started participating in local recitals and competitions early on, and at age nine, she was introduced to classical music, which deepened her passion for performing. She enjoys sharing music with others and regularly plays at retirement homes with Rêve de Musique.

Her dedication to piano has led her to various festivals and competitions, where she has received recognition, including Superior ratings at the National Federation of Music (NFMC) festivals, an Outstanding rating at the Texas Federation of Music Clubs’ All-State Festival, and Gold Medals from the Texas Music Teachers Association (TMTA). In 2024, she was honored to receive awards at international competitions, including the American Protégé International Piano & Strings Competition and the International Festival of Young Gifted Musicians “Passion of Music.” In 2025, she won first place at the Elite International Music Competition.

Beyond music, Shannon enjoys exploring mathematics, science, astronomy, and history. She is also actively involved in her school community through UIL competitions and student council.
